1. BHASHINI & Assam Sign MoU

The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD) and Assam Innovation & Startup Foundation (AISF) signed an MoU to promote language technology, Generative AI, and multilingual digital governance. The initiative aims to improve digital inclusion and strengthen Assam's startup ecosystem through vernacular-language solutions.


2. India Becomes World's No.1 Ship Recycling Nation

India captured 35.4% of global ship recycling activity in 2025, becoming the world's leading ship recycling nation as per UNCTAD. The achievement enables India to meet its Maritime India Vision 2030 target five years ahead of schedule. Alang in Gujarat remains the country's major ship recycling hub.

3. President Visits Kuno National Park

President Droupadi Murmu visited Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh and reviewed Project Cheetah. During her Botswana visit in 2025, she witnessed the symbolic donation of eight cheetahs that arrived in Kuno in February 2026.

- Objective: Reintroduce cheetahs after their extinction in India in 1952.

4. India Gets FATF Vice-Presidency for First Time

India has secured the Vice-Presidency of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) for the first time since joining the organization in 2010. IAS officer Vivek Aggarwal has been appointed Vice-President for the term July 2026–June 2027.

- India became a member in 2010.

5. India's Space Journey: 12 Years of Transformation

India's space sector has witnessed remarkable growth over the last 12 years under the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047.

- Successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 near the lunar south pole.
- Launch of Aditya-L1 solar mission.
- Preparations for Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission.
- Plans for an Indian space station.
- Space startups increased from 1 in 2014 to over 400 by February 2026.
- Liberalized FDI norms and greater private sector participation.

The transformation has strengthened India's global position as a leading space power while supporting governance, agriculture, communication, disaster management, and economic growth.

6. DNA Database Under Criminal Procedure (Identification) Act, 2022

Police across several states have begun collecting DNA samples of suspects involved in serious crimes under the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Act, 2022.

- Over 1 lakh DNA profiles stored in the NCRB database.
- Records include DNA, fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs.
- Data can be retained for up to 75 years.
- Objective: Improve criminal investigation and identification of offenders.

7. UK Prime Minister Resigns

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced his resignation amid turmoil within the Labour Party. The move is expected to trigger a leadership contest and adds to the recent trend of political instability in the United Kingdom.
